State The location of ribosomes and their function

Ribosomes are membraneless cell organelles . Generally they remain scattered in the cytoplasm. But they are also been seen inside some cell organelles ( mitochondria, chloroplastid ) or remain attached on the outer surface of ER or nuclear membrane. 
Protein synthesis is the main function of ribosomes.
