He ordered for the construction of mosques, sarais, and wells on the road-sides which reduced the dangers from the thieves and dacoits.
He ordered that the property of the dead would be passed over to their legal heirs and the unclaimed property would go to the state, the income of which would be spent on public-welfare.

The following are the features of the Jahangir's rule:
1. After succeeding to the Mughal throne Jahangir established the 'Chain of Justice'. Anyone who faced any kind of injustice could pull the chain and present his or her complaint listened for redressal.
2. One of his most famous successes was his victory over the Kangra fort in 1620.
3. Jahangir's era is recognized with the building of monuments and gardens such as monument Itimad-ud-Daulah and Shalimar Bagh in Srinagar.
