It's VSEPR NOT VSERP

The shape of the molecule depends upon the no of electron pairs present inside the centre of nucleus

The electron pairs revolve around. They stay far from each other electron in shell to minimise the repulsion

The electron pairs does not repel because they move in space from each other to make repelling less

Lone pair - - - - lone pair---->lone pair-bond pair--->bond pair - - - bond pair

Answer:

  • In polyatomic molecules (I.e molecules made up three or more atoms) , one of the constituent atoms is identified as the cemtral atom to which all other atoms belonging to the molecule are linked
  • the total number of valence shell electron pairs decided the shape of the molecule
