Functional groups may be defined as a atom or group of atoms that are attached to the compound to show unique characteristics and show different reactions then the main compound .

  • Functional group of Alcohols ->  -OH
  • Functional group of Aldehydes -> -CHO
  • Functional group of Ketones ->  -CO
  • Functional group of Carboxylic acids -> -COOH
