State the methods of
e-waste
Answers
Answer:
Electronic waste (E-waste) is one of the fastest growing pollution problems worldwide. It possesses a variety of toxic substances which can contaminate and pollute the environment and threaten human health if not managed, treated or disposed of properly. Several strategies such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) along with specific, focussed administrations and legislations have been initiated to reduce the production of E-waste and recover valuable metals. Effective methods, namely, recycling and landfill disposal are used to dispose E-waste globally. India is currently dealing with its own E-waste and also a major quantity of E-waste that is imported from abroad. Due to improper and unsafe methods followed in recycling and disposal of E-waste in India, health and safety of the workers involved are affected significantly. Soil, water and air ecosystems are widely affected due to contamination and pollution. This paper presents an overview of methods and strategies undertaken to manage E-waste both globally and locally (in India), and examines harmful and hazardous effects that might arise due to improper management of E-waste
