State The Nature And Name Of Substance By Combining The Following:
I. Zinc + Copper Ii. Water + Sugar Iii. Aluminium + Sulphur Iv. Iron + Chromium +Nickel
Answers
Answer:
- Zn + Cu ----> Zn-Cu alloy Nature: solid state
- H2O + C6H12O6 ----> CO2 + H2O Nature: CO2 is in gaseous state and H2O in liquid state
- Al + S ----> Al2S3 Nature: solid state
4. Fe + Cr ----> Fe-Cr alloy
Nature: solid state
Hope this helps!!
(i) Zinc + Copper = Zinc sulphate + Copper
(ii) Water + Sugar = Sugar Water
(iii) Aluminium + Sulphur = Aluminium Sulfide
(iv) Iron + Chromium + Nickel = Stainless Steel
Nature of products formed-
(i) In the first reaction of zinc and copper in the form of an aqueous solution of sulfate the element zinc will replace copper due to its high reactivity and form zinc sulphate along with the metal copper on the side. This is a displacement reaction in nature. The compound formed is inorganic in nature with the formula ZnSO4.
(ii) The second reaction forms plain sugar water when sugar is mixed in the water it dissolves in it. Sugar water is used by humans commonly for the preparation of sweets, lemonade, etc.
(iii) The compound Aluminium Sulphide with the formula Al2S3 is gray solid in color and insoluble in nature. It is formed by the elements Aluminum (Al) & Sulphur (S) where the valencies are balanced to form Aluminium Sulphide in a reaction.
(iv) Lastly, the combination of Iron, Chromium, & Nickel forms an alloy of stainless steel. It is mainly an alloy of iron, containing some percentage of chromium and nickel in it to prevent it from rusting.
