Postulates of Dalton's atomic theory:-

1. All matter is made of very small particles known as atoms.

2. In a chemical reaction atoms are indivisible particles, which can't be created or destroyed.

3. Atoms of a given element are identical in mass and chemical properties.

4. Atoms of different elements contains different masses and chemical properties.

5. Atoms combine in the ratio of tiny whole numbers to make compounds.

6. The relative number and types of atoms are constant in a given compound.

*POSTULATES OF DALTON'S
ATOMIC THEORY*
Introduction:
In 1808,John Dalton,an English school teacher and Chemist suggested the fundamental ideas of atomic theory.

Important Postulates:
These are as under:
1_All elements are made up of small, indivisible and indestructible particles called atoms.
2_All atoms of a given elements are identical in all respects having same size, mass and chemical properties but the atoms of one element differ from the atoms of other element.
3_Compounds are formed when atoms of more than one element combine in a simple whole number ratio.
4_A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms but the atoms themselves are not changed, this means that atoms are neither created nor destroyed in chemical reactions.
