plasma membrane permits the entry and exit of some materials in the cell. Therefore, the plasma membrane is called a selectively permeable membrane.

plasma membrane is a selectively permeable membrane that allows and permits entry and exit of selected meterial in and out of the cell.
its permeable nature help the cell to move the water in and out of the cell through osmosis.
it helps cells to perform endocytosis i.e. it helps them to move and engulf food.Eg. Amoeba
