Principle: Meter bridge is based on the principle of wheatstone bridge. In this bridge one lateral pair of resistances is replaced by a straight wire of length 1m of uniform cross section. And other pair consist of one known and one unknown resistance.

A slide wire bridge is knowm as metre bridge. It ia constructed on the principle based on balanced Whetstone bridge and is used to the resistance of an unknown conductor or, to compare the value of two resistances. When the jockey is moved along the wire, there is ome position where the galvanometer will show no current. Then the metre bridge is balanced and the balanced condition is :R/S = 1/100-1.
Hope this helps..!!
