The product law of exponents :  

When we multiply the two numbers with the same base we add the exponents of these rational numbers.

Let a (> 0) be a real number and p, q be rational numbers.  

a^p × a^q = a^p+q

Some examples :

(i) (4)⁴ × (4)³ = 4⁴⁺³ = 4⁷

(ii) (⅕)² × (⅕) = (⅕)²⁺¹ = (⅕)³
