Mg + CuSo4 = MgSO4 + Cu

magnesium + copper sulphate = magnesium sulphate + copper

-if magnesium is placed in copper sulphate solution, a single replacement reaction occurs

-copper solid is displaced and the magnesium losses electrons to copper ions.

-this is the case because magnesium is more reactive than the metal copper in CuSo4.
