The average variable cost is U-shaped because when an economy converted into diseconomy and you can understand that when a company Average variable cost curves is U-shaped in short run and when Average variable costs is rising then average costs will also be rising but average fixed costs will start declining and according to law of proportions other things remain constant and one variable factor is changed.
