This is because of DISPERSION of light.
Dispersion- It takes place because the refractive index of the refracting medium is different for different colours or wavelengths.
Refractive index= a+b/wavelength2+c/wavelength4
So Deviation = (refractive index-1) ^ Angle of prism.
White light is made up of seven colours of different wavelengths , hence different colours emerge in different directions
