Velocity is defined as the rate of change of displacement.....

i.e. velocity= displacement/time

(a) a body is moving with UNIFORM VELOCITY means it covers equal displacement in equal interval of time.. in a particular direction however small the time interval may be...
here we can say distance in place of displacement as the body is moving in same direction....

(b) a body is moving with variable velocity means the displacement travelled is different in equal interval of time.....
here we can say that the distance travelled will not be equal in equal interval of time if the body is moving without change in direction.....

NOTE:

❣distance is the actual path length

❣displacement is the shortest straight line path between initial and final positions

❣displacement=distance only when the body travels in straight line without turning back
