State the relationship between frequently and time period of a wave. The wavelength if variations produced on the surface of water is 2cm. If the wave velocity is 16m/s, find its frequency and time period.

Note :- Ans only if u know it, not for points, plz.

KAS11: ans it fast plz

The relationship between the frequency and the time period is

Frequency = 1/ Time period

Solution:
Given - Wavelength is 2 cm and velocity is 16m/s
To find - Frequency and time period
Ans -
Speed = Frequency * Wavelength
16 = Frequency * 2
16/2 = Frequency
8 cm = Frequency

Therefore the frequency is 8 cm.

The time period is
Frequency = 1/ Time period
8 = 1 / Time period
8* Time period = 1
Time period = 1/8 s

Therefore the time period is 1/8s (or) 0.125s.

abhi178: something wrong dear
KAS11: both r different then which one is correct
abhi178: dear here friends mention 2cm value put 2 m like
abhi178: so answer being differeent
KAS11: but its in cm only
KAS11: and the units r also different

frequency is the number of cycle per second . but time period is time taken by particle for complete revolution .

both are related ---------
frequency =1/time period.
or ,
time period =1/frequency .

given ,
wavelength =2 cm
wave velocity = 16 m/sec

wave velocity =wavelenght x frequency
16 = 2 x 10^-2 x f
f=800 Hz
and T=1/800 = 1/8 x10^-2 sec

KAS11: both r different then which one is correct
abhi178: here clear wave velocity is 16m/s and wavelength 2cm but he write just like 2m
abhi178: so I this he do tiny mistake
KAS11: ok
KAS11: then is ur correct
