Role of Hydrochloric acid:

It stops the action of saliva in stomach,

kill the bacteria present in the food, activates pepsin and provides acidic medium for the proper functioning of pepsin enzyme for digestion of proteins

Role of villi:

Inner surface is raised into 4 millions of finger-like folds called villi , they increase surface area of small intestine to digest foods completely.

Role of digestive enzymes:

Pepsin hydrolyzes proteins into proteoses peptones, while lipase enzymes hydrolyzes small amounts of fats into fatty acids and glycerol .Curdling of milk is done by the enzyme rennin, which increases the period of action of Pepsin on milk proteins.
