Hey there friend!

Role of the following in the digestive system of humans is as follows:
a. saliva - The digestive functions of saliva include moistening food, and helping to create a food bolus, so it can be swallowed easily. Saliva contains the enzyme amylase that breaks some starches down into maltose and dextrin. Thus, digestion of food occurs within the mouth, even before food reaches the stomach.

b. digestive enzymes - The enzymes in your body help to perform very important tasks. These include building muscle, destroying toxins, and breaking down food particles during digestion. ... For example, enzymes are required for properdigestive system function. Digestive enzymes are mostly produced in the pancreas, stomach, and small intestine.

c. HCl - The gastric chief cells of the stomach secrete enzymes for protein breakdown (inactive pepsinogen, and in infancy rennin). Hydrochloric acid activates pepsinogen into the enzyme pepsin, which then helps digestion by breaking the bonds linking amino acids, a process known as proteolysis.

d. bile juice - Since bile increases the absorption of fats, it is an important part of the absorption of the fat-soluble substances, such as the vitamins A, D, E, and K. Besides its digestive function, bileserves also as the route of excretion for bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cells recycled by the liver.

e. villi - Although the villi play a role in digestion, they also are essential for the absorption of digested nutrients. The cells of thevilli and another part of the small intestine, known as the crypts, transport food from the digestive tract into the bloodstream, where they can be used by the body.
