The small intestine contains small finger-like projections of tissue called villi which increase the surface area of the intestine andcontain specialized cells that transport substances into the bloodstream. Although these villi do not aid in the digestion of nutrients, they do help with nutrient absorption.

Hey there!

=>>> Villi are the numerous finger like projections, whose walls are richly supplied with blood capillaries and lymph vessels. They are able to contract and relax continuously, thus bringing themselves into close contact with the food in the small intestine. The individual cells on the surface of the viili possess free tiny microvilli on their free surfaces, these features greatly increase the surface area of the small intestine.

hope it Helped!!!!!☺️
