Mass is the amount of matter possessed by a body.

In other words, mass is inertial potential of a body i.e. the amount inertia a body can possess.

The S.I. unit of mass is newton(N). The newton here does not start with a capital letter because it is considered as a unit and not a name. But remember that its symbol(N) is a capital N.

The SI unit of mass is Kg (kilogram)

Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object.

Explanation

Mass measures the quantity of matter regardless of both its location in the universe and the gravitational force applied to it. An object's mass is constant in all circumstances; contrast this with its weight, a force that depends on gravity.

Your mass on the earth and the moon are identical. Your weight on the moon is about one-sixth of your weight on the earth.
