In this case, electrons are transferred from the neutral object to the positively charged rod and the sphere becomes charged positively.

b) postive

It is so because electrons present on the object are attracted to the positively charged rod, thereby, causing the object to acquire positive charge all over its surface. In case of induction, when the object is kept beside the positively charged rod, the object acquires its charge.
