Rainbows are usually formed during the time of rain.So when the sunlight enters the rain drop, the light undergoes multiple internal reflection and refracts to form the 7 colours while coming out of the rain drop.
There are 2 types of Rainbows:
1)Primary Rainbow
2)Secondary Rainbow.
Primary rainbow is the rainbow formed when the sunlight undergoes single internal reflection inside the rain drop.
Secondary rainbow is the rainbow formed when the sunlight undergoes internal reflection 2 times in the rain drop.
