The theme of thr poem is that ONE SHOULD NOT GET EASILY FLATTERED BY ANY ONE BECAUSE THEY CAN GET CHEATED. IN THE VERY STORY IT IS SEEN THAT NIGHTINGALE GETS EASILT FLATTERED BY THE FROG SO IT CAUSED HER A PAINFULL DEATH. SHE DIDNOT REALISE THAT SHE HAS A VERY NICE VOICE AND EVEN IF SHE GETS TRAPPED SHE NEVER TRIED TO FLY AWAY FROM THE SITUATION.
THE POEM SYMBOLISES THAT FROG IS RICH NOT BECAUSE OF ANY QUALITY BUT JUST BECAUSE OF BRAIN.

This poem by vikram seth is a musical parody where the frog and the Nightingale represent two contrasting characters. The Frog is a boastful, domineering character, whereas the Nightingale has been portrayed as a meek, nervous, polite bird who is afraid of frog. She submits to him without any protest. The poem has been told in the style of a story. Starts - once Upon a time.... then the poem progresses in a definite direction and finally concludes with the death of the bird.
