change of state : it occurs in both the physical and chemical change the change of state is mostly involved in physical process like melting of solid, boiling of liquids and evaporation, sublimation etc

● melting

on heating, a solid changes into liquid. This process in which a solid changes into liquid is called melting point the temperature at which a solid changes into liquid at atmospheric pressure is called melting point. For example ,the melting point of ice is 0°c

● freezing

the reverse process of melting in freezing etc. During freezing a liquid changes into solid and temperature at which a liquid changes into solid at atmospheric pressure is called freezing point .obviously melting point and freezing point are the same temperature example for water it is 0°c

● Boiling

when a liquid is heated the rate of vaporization increases upto a certain point when the rate of vaporization is maximum. The temperature remains fixed until the whole of the liquid changes into vapour.

For example, boiling Point of water is 100°c

● evaporation

the process due to which a liquid changes into its vapour state at any temperature below its boiling point is called evaporation. Example :water from river, lakes, Ponds oceans change into vapour due to evaporation.

the process in which a substance in vapour or gaseous state changes into liquid state is called condensation.

the temperature at which condensation start is called condensation point point numerically the boiling point and condensation point of a liquid are same.

● sublimation

the process in which a substance in its solid state into its vapour state directly without passing through liquid state is called sublimation .
