Answer:

QUESTION -

State the universal law of gravitation .

ANSWER -

It states that there is a force of attraction between two masses separated by some distance.

The gravitational force between two bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

Proof of universal law of gravitation -

Suppose two bodies A&B of mass m1& m2 are kept at a distance of r from each other & let the force of attraction be F.According to newtons law of gravitation :

1)the force acting on the objects is proportional to the product of thier masses

F α m1m2---------(1)

2)and the force acting on the bodies is inversely proportional to the square of distance between them

F α 1/r2------------(2)

combining (1) & (2) we get:

F=m1m2/r2

= F =GMm/r2

where,

G=constant of proportionality known as Universal Gravitational Constant.
