The universal law of gravitation statesthat every object in the universe attract every object with a force which is directly proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to their square of distance between them.
Derivation: For two objects of masses m1 and m2 and the distance between them r, the force (F) of attraction acting between them is given by the universal law of gravitation as:
F inversely proportional to m1 ---------(1)
F directly proportional to m2-----------(2)
F directly proportional to 1/r^2-----------(3)
from the above equations we can write them as the following:
F inversely proportional to (m1 m2)/r^2.
if we remove the proportionality we get proportionality constant G as the following:
F=( G m1 m2)/ r^2.
the above equation is the mathematical representation of Newton's universal law of gravitation.
hope it helps you a lot.
thank you very much.
