Newton's universal law of gravitation states that when two body are separated by a distance r, then both attract each other with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses (m_{1} $ and m_{2}) and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them (r). This force is termed as gravitational force.

Mathematically, gravitation force is given by

F=Gm_{1} Gm_{2} / r^{2}

where G is gravitatinal constant.
