Explanation:

Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior of objects for which all existing forces are not balanced. The second law states that the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.

Newton's second law of motion

momentum = mass x velocity

p = mv

(applications) :-

Cricket players while catching a ball try to stop it slowly reducing the momentum of the ball while stopping a ball immediately is dangerous due to it's high momentum which in turn is due to it's small mass but high velocity .

A train even at a low speed hits an object like a car during an accident with a great momentum due to it's large mass .

Missiles are very dangerous even if they don't explode because they have both high mass as well as high velocity giving rise to a large momentum .
