The three differences between Criminal Law and Civil Law are:-
• Criminal law deals with conduct or acts that the law defines as offences, such as: theft, harassment, murder, etc. whereas civil law deals with any harm to rights of individuals, such as: disputes relating to sale of land, divorce cases, rent matters, etc.
• Criminal law usually begins with lodging of an FIR in the police station and then the case is filed in the court whereas civil law begins with a petition being filed in the court.
• If the accused is found guilty in criminal cases, they they are sent to jail and also fined whereas the court gives the specific relief asked for with justic in civil cases.
