1) Force can change the direction of a moving body.

Example : The direction of the cricket ball changes when the bat applies force by hitting the ball.

2) Force can change the shape of a body.

Example : The shape of a rubber band changes when you apply force by stretching the rubber band.

3)Force can produce acceleration in a body at rest.

Example : A football at rest starts moving when you apply a force by kicking it as acceleration is produced in the football due to the kick.

  • Force can move a stationary object: A force applied on a stationary object can make it move. For example, Opening a door, pulling a suitcase, kicking a ball.....etc
  • A force can stop a moving object: A force applied on a moving object can stop it. To stop a moving object we apply force in opposite direction of the movement of the object. For example, stopping a moving bicycle, stopping a moving football....etc.
  • A force can change the size and shape of an object: A force can change the size and shape of an object. For example, shape of dough changes on applying force, shape of a balloon changes when pressed, shape of spring changes on pulling.....etc.
