The properties of Synthetic or man made fibres are :-

  • Synthetic fibres are formed chemically by the humans.

  • They are stronger, more durable, tougher and more elastic than natural fibres.

  • They are easy to wash and as they absorb less water, easy to dry.

  • They colour fast and do not bleed colour when washed.

  • They do not shrink when washed.

  • They retain creases longer and do not wrinkle easily.

  • They are resistant to attacks by insects.

  • Examples - Nylon, Rayon, Polyester etc.
