State three ways by which synthetic fibers are superior and inferior as compared to natural fibres.
Answers
The three ways by which synthetic fibers are superior as compared to natural fibers are as follows:
1. Natural fibers like silk and wool require dedicate handling but synthetic fibers do not need any dedicate handling.
2. Natural fibers like cotton and jute get wrinkled easily where as synthetic fibers do not.
3. Natural fibers are more prone to moth attacks than synthetic fibers.
The three ways by which synthetic fibers are inferior as compared to natural fibers are as follows:
1. They do not absorb sweat so they cannot be used during summer.
2. They easily catch fire.
3. They stick to body.
Synthetic fibers are cheaper, long lasting and water resistant on the other hand they easily catch fire and cannot be worn in summer.
Natural fibres are weaker due to the presence of more inherent defects in the structure.
The general characteristics of natural fibres is that they have fast ageing and the structures damages quickly. So, it has only short life with limited application.
