State True or False : A small metal ball is suspended in a uniform electric field with the help of an insulated thread. If high energy X-ray beam falls on the ball, the ball will be deflected in the direction of the field.

Yes it is true.

Explanation:

As per the concept the metal ball will charged positively when it comes in contact with negatively charged body. As X-ray is negatively charged particles or lets say electrons, when x ray beam falls on metal ball there is continuous supply of negative charge. As ball will get charged positively, it gets attracted towards the path of electron beam. As we know electric field of lines always directed from positive to negative. Hence, the ball will be deflected in the direction of electric field, i.e from positive to negative due to attraction.
