When a body is moving at a constant velocity in a straight line or is not moving it is said to be in equilibrium. If a body is not moving it is said to be in static equilibrium. A body does not move when the forces acting on it cancel each other.
Two conditions necessary for a body to be in equilibrium are:
1. The sum of rotational forces or moments should be zero.
2. The vector sum of all external forces should be zero.
