The Functions of adipose tissue. Adipose tissue acts as an insulating layer, helping to reduce heat loss through the skin. It also has a protective function, providing mechanical protection ("padding") and support around some of the major organs, e.g. kidneys. Adipose tissue is also a means of energy storage.

Functions:
-To store triglycerides(fats) in the form of single large droplet that occupies the major part of the cell.
-To provide mechanical protection around some major organs. eg: kindney
-Acts as an insulating layer. i.e. prevents the loss oof heat from the body.
-It also acts as a means of energy storage.(the food excess to requirement is stored in the form of fat.)
