Reasons why high frequency carrier waves are needed in transmitting a message signal:
1. The power required to transmit a high frequency signal is less.
2. High frequency signals can travel farther.
3. High frequency signals have less signal to noise ratio. The message signals will be destroyed easily by the noise present in the atmosphere. Also there is a lot of electromagnetic interference in the air. So messages are destroyed easily. Using high frequency it is possible to recover the carrier and message easily.
4. Using a high frequency carrier, we can send hundreds of messages on the same carrier. So this is a cheaper communication process.
5 Bandwidth available on the channel can be utilized to an optimum level.
