The two sources by which plant get nitrogen are atmosphere and soil.

From atmosphere plant get nitrogen in the form of gas

And; from soil plant get nitrogen in the form of nitrogen compounds due to help of nitrogen fixing bacteria 's who converted nitrogen gas into nitrogen compounds by follow a particular process.

1) Farmers cultivate the plants which have nitrogen fixing root, is termed as noodles such as, pulses, which absorbs nitrogen from the atmosphere store that at their root in the soil. In later this preserved nitrogen is used by other plants without nitrogen-fixing root.

2) Some plants which have neither nitrogen fixing root nor capable of obtaining nitrogen from the soil or atmosphere, they secrete a juicy substance in their trap like leaves, which attracts insects and when an insect sits on it then, they quickly close their lids ( such as, pitcher plant) and kill the insect and obtain nitrogen from it.
