1. Domestic sewage generated by the cities located near the river.

Coliform bacteria, which is present in untreated domestic sewage is a major contributor.

2. Industrial effluents moving into the river water pollutes it. The effluents contain harmful chemicals which remain untreated and get released into the water.

The possible solutions to control it are:

1. Implementation of laws to prevent human activities and discharge of household waste into the river water.

2. Industrial effluents should be treated before discharge. Also, proper steps should be taken to manage industrial wastes such as segregation, landfills, composting, etc.
