  • Convex lens is also known as a converging lens.
  • Convex lens is thicker in the middle.
  • Light rays passing through the lens's center remain straight, whereas light passing through the edges is bent the most.

The two uses of the convex lens are:

  1. Convex lenses are used to correct far-sighted vision. Farsighted vision is a condition of an eye where it can focus on farsighted objects clearly but it can not focus on nearsighted objects. With the help of a convex lens, it can be corrected.
  2. Microscopes use a convex lens to generate extremely magnified images of very small objects which can't be seen by the naked eye, and thus can be very helpful in many aspects in the field of medical and research.
