Phloem is quite different from xylem Because-•

Phloem is a living tissue that transports food from its manufacturing site, leaves  to other parts of the plant. Xylem is  non living at maturity that transports water and nutrients.  Xylem transports water and nutrients unidirectionally from roots to higher parts of plants, whereas phloem transports food in any direction within the plant.
