Answer:

Universal law of gravitation was proposed by Newton.

The law states that;

"The universal force of attraction, between two bodies having masses m and M respectively, is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to square of the distance between them"

Mathematically;

F ~ mM

F ~ r^2 (~ = sign of proportionality)

Combining both relations

F ~ mM/r^2

Removing sign of proportionality we use gravitational constant G.

F = GmM/r^2 Newton

:- Here G is taken as gravitational constant it value is G=6.02×10^-23 N-m^2/kg^2

Hope it helps
