a law stating that any two masses attract each other with a force equal to a constant (constant of gravitation) multiplied by the product of the two masses and divided by the square of the distance between them. Expand. Also called law of universal gravitation. Origin of law of gravitation
F1 = G M m / d1²
F2 = G M m / d2²
F1 / F2 = d2² / d1²
100 / 50 = (d2/d1)²
d2 = √2 d1
distance should be √2 times the previous.
