The seeds which are produced without fertilization is called apomixis.
Example:- grasses and Asteraceae.
It is a type of asexual reproduction which mimics sexual reproduction.
Significance of apomixis:-
1. use in the field of agriculture.
2. It has several benefits in horticulture.
3. out breeding and selling could be done.
4. The offsprings are genetically identical to the parent plant.
Commercial applications of apomixis:-
1. prevent loss of specific characters.
2.Expensive method for seed production.
3.In less time many hybrids can be produced.
