Latent Heat:-

• The latent heat is a amount of heat that is absorbed or released by its unit volume at the time of change of state.

• Types of latent heat:- Since matter has mainly three physical states - solid, liquid and gas.

Hence, there are mainly two latent heat -

1. heat of fusion: solid
2. latent heat of vaporization: fluid

• Formula:-

It is the equation of the quantity of latent heat:

• Q is the total amount of heat absorbed or released,
• m is the mass of the substance,
• L is the latent heat of that substance.
