"The chemical reaction on which more reactive element displaces less reactive element from its compound is known as displacement reaction."

1) When iron fillings are added in copper sulphate solution they displace copper from its compound as iron is more reactive than copper.

Fe + CuSo4 → FeSo4 + Cu

2) Here, Zinc dust displaces iron sulphate solution from its compound.

Zn + FeSo4 → ZnSo4 + Fe

3) No reaction takes place as zinc is more reactive than copper, copper can't displace zinc from its compound.

4) No reaction takes place as calcium is more reactive than silver. Hence silver can't displace calcium from its compound.

1.) Displacement reaction will occur as iron is more reactive than copper. The equation for this reaction will be

Fe(s) + CuSO₄(aq) →  FeSO₄(aq) + Cu (s)

2.) Displacement reaction will occur as zinc is more reactive than iron. The equation for this reaction will be

Zn(s) + FeSO₄(aq) → ZnSO₄(aq) + Fe(s)

3.) no reaction will occur as copper is less reactive than zinc and cannot displace it.

4.) no reaction will occur as silver is less reactive than calcium and cannot displace it.
