State whether an alpha particle will experience any force in a magnetic field if : (i) it is placed in the field at rest. (ii) it moves in the magnetic field parallel to field lines. (iii) it moves in the magnetic field perpendicular to field lines. Justify your answer in each case?

(1) when particle is at rest

i.e,v=0

F=qvBsin♧=0

(2)when the particle is parallel to the uniform magnetic field with initial velocity v then,the force experienced is in the direction of alpha particle as a result it moves in a straight line.

(3)when particle is perpendicular to the magnetic field it experiences force normal to the direction of the particle as a result it moves in circular path

If you want quantative analysis of this then feel free to ask

I hpoe this helps
