Speed is a scalar quantity.. because it can be described completely by its magnitude, direction is not needed... whereas in vector quantities, magnitude as well as direction is required. Speed is a scalar quantity because speed has only their magnitude so its a scalar quantity.

Answer:

speed is scalar quantity because it has only magnitude not direction...

it only tell us about magnitude for example 10km/hrs

means 10hrs can be cover in 1 hour it doesn't tell in which direction 10hrs will be cover
