it's a substitution reaction because in alkane (saturated single bonds) substitution is only possible . addition is possible in alkanes and alkynes . here cl substituted hydrogen and biproduct was HCl .so it is a substitution reaction

hope you understand the concept well and it's an important part for board exam mainly esterification and all for 10 class students
