State whether x=-k/2 is root of quadratic equation 2x^2+k-6x-3=0

x= -k/2
2(-k/2)^2+k-6(-k/2)-3(-k/2)=0
2*(k/4)+k+(6k/2)+3k/2=0
k/2+k+3k+3k/2=0
k/2+k+3k+3k/2=0
(k+2k+6k+3k)/2=0
10k=0
k=0
since answer is not 0 ,-k/2 is not a root.
