Question :-

State which of the following are equations with a variable. In case of an equation with a variable, Identify the variable.

  • 17 + x = 5

  • 2b - 3 = 7

  • (y - 7) > 5

  • 9/3 = 3

  • 7 × 3 - 19 = 2

Answer :-

  • Sum with variable :-

\longmapsto\sf{17 + x = 5 \:  \:  \:  \:  \star\{variable = x\}\star}

\longmapsto\sf{2b - 3 = 7 \:  \:  \:  \:  \star\{variable = b\}\star}

These equation are with variable.

  • Sum with no variable :-

\longmapsto\sf{ \cfrac{9}{3} = 3}

\longmapsto\sf{7 \times 3 - 19 = 2}

These Equation are not with variable.

  • Sum which is not an equation.

\longmapsto\sf{(y - 7) > 5}
