Oxidation happens when:
electron is lost
oxygen is added
electronegative element is added
hydrogen is removed
Reduction happens when:
Electron is added
oxygen is removed
electropositive element is added
hydrogen is added
1. Pb lost 2 electrons, so, oxidation has taken place
2. one electron is lost from iron, so, oxidation has taken place
3. The element A has gained one electron, so, reduction has taken place
4. Copper lost 2 electrons, so, oxidation has taken place

In Oxidation,
- electron is lost ( + charge for the electron)
- oxygen is added (O)
- electronegative element is added
- hydrogen is removed (H)
In Reduction,
- electron is added ( - charge for the electron)
- oxygen is removed
- electropositive element is added
- hydrogen is added
In the first reaction,
- Pb lost 2 electrons and became Pb²⁺
- ∴ oxidation takes place here.
In the second reaction,
- Fe²⁺ lost 1 electron and became Fe³⁺
- ∴ oxidation has taken place
In the third reaction,
- A³⁺ gained 1 electron and became A²⁺
- ∴ reduction has taken place
In the fourth reaction,
- Cu lost 2 electrons and became Cu²⁺
- ∴ oxidation has taken place
